I expected there to be a lot more people, I'm sure there were no more than 20 or 30 of us. I really didn't think I'd get the chance to mull and choose what I wanted.
The general stock (background characters) was very cheap indeed, bags, hats, scarves, clothes for a few pounds. This was stuff that possibly came from a charity shop/market to begin with and'll likely be heading back to one now that the office is closed.
The recognisable stuff that got some screen time or got worn by a well known guest star set you back a bit more and, understandably, the rails for the principle actors was where everyone headed first. Keeley's clothes were the most expensive, possibly because they're more strikingly recognisable than Phil's. You could also get shoes and jewellery (again priced from Keeley on down) and there was an additional rail of stuff which was bought for the actors but then never used/never appeared on screen (I think the most interesting was a black leather jacket that was bought for Phil - would have loved to have seen that on screen. I also saw a red version of Keeley's white leather jacket). And if you wanted something cheaper but still recognisable there were a few things (like Gene's cowboy boots) which had been worn by stand-ins but not by the actors.
The costume crew were amazing, answering all our questions, pointing things out from S3 we hadn't seen yet and generally knowing the exact history of everything in the room. They carried notebooks and priced items individually (a few things like the D&G anchor blouse were designer to start with) but to give you an idea a blouse/top worn by Keeley would go for about £100 and a shirt worn by Phil for £60. A pair of Keeley's high heels would've been about £30 and £50 would get you a piece of her jewellery.
A lot of Keeley's jewellery and accessories were really cheaply bought (some of the earrings were attached to their original cards with prices like £3 on them!) so it was quite weird to see people (like me) coughing up £50 for them.
A few things had tags (with studio codes) attached but just a very few so apart from the signed receipt (the people who took the money & signed the receipts were not part of the costume crew) there was nothing along with the goods to show where they came from. When stuff turns up on ebay, I'm just saying.
I bought four things: Keeley's black and gold anchor earrings from 2x08, Keeley's cream/red piped blouse again from 2x08 and two of Phil's shirts - the white striped shirt he wore throughout 1x08 and a burgundy shirt from 2x06. There was actually more than one of Keeley's piped shirt (quite a few things were there in duplicate so it would've been real hard to leave disappointed that you didn't find what you wanted :-) but the crew confirmed the duplicates were all worn at some point. I'd love to have bought more but not having Paris Hilton's bank balance I had to just pick something.
Some of the stuff still there when I left:
Some of Phil's shirts including the black and grey stripe from the 'In The Air Tonight' scene. Almost bought it, decided I really couldn't go the whole week without food...
Quite a few of Keeley's things including the black hooker dress from 1x05, several teal silky blouses (there were many of these, all identical), white blouse tagged 'present day', the argyle pattern jumper from 2x08, the blue Whistles cardigan from 2x07 and blue jumper with gold trim from 2x04, large knit wool jumper from 2x01 and a few S3-as-yet-unseen things including the top and earrings from my icon and a light green jumper and light green suede heels. A chunky pearl necklace (S3), her fish earrings (worn with the cardigan from 2x07), black beret and a number of belts and chunky bracelets.
Daniel Mays' long grey coat (S3, the costume people pointed it out, apparently the character's going to wear it a lot) and Matthew Macfadyen's tracksuit.
Some stuff I saw sold included Keeley's red basque from 1x04, lots of her satin blouses and boots and shoes including the red patent heels from the S2 publicity). I'd love to have gotten the black irregular-bead necklace she wears a lot or the red fan earrings from 2x08 but if they were there I missed them. I ♥ my anchor earrings, though. Keeley's anchor blouse from 2x08 went fast - it's quite a rare D&G worth about a hundred without Keeley wearing it so whoever it belongs to now got a double bargain X)
Couple things in the secondary character rails that I recognised:
Molly's dressing gown from 2x03, the pink party dress worn by the little birthday girl, again from 2x03. One of the crew pointed out two black/purple dresses that are going to be worn by twins in S3. I asked if there was anything there worn by Ruth Millar (Jackie Queen) and she fished out this gloriously awful eighties padded shoulder bag that she carried for much of 2x04 and priced it at £2 for me so how could I resist?
I'll try and get some pics. And try and remember the names on the labels. If anyone's interested the top Keeley's wearing in my icon is by French Connection XD
